Spirit lifting Tisanes
I was going to a celebration this weekend, and noticed that with the cold, cloudy weather we've been having this spring in Washington that I didn't feel much like celebrating.
Well, I was supposed to bring a potluck contribution, so I looked at a book called Wise Concoctions by Bonnie Trust Dahan and found some spirit lifting tisanes that I could make. These quick "teas" made from fresh plant material allowed me to use some of the spring herbs already growing in my garden and they both went over well at the party.
The first one was a lemonbalm / basil tisane. I put 8 tsps. each of fresh lemonbalm and basil leaves in a half gallon jar and poured boiling water over the herbs to fill the jar. Let it steep for 5 minutes, strained it, and served it hot.
The other one was a Rosemary tisane. I used 16 tsps. of fresh rosemary for the half gallon jar, again steeping it for about 5 minutes. Once strained I added a couple tablespoons of lemon juice and a heaping tablespoon of honey. Yum!
Enjoy,
Kimberly
